A major global energy operator

Blue Diamond trial supports a major 2027 turnaround rollout

After a completed stop-the-drop trial, a major global energy operator selected Blue Diamond to replace a layered plywood-and-welding-blanket system for a planned 2027 turnaround.

Operating context
The previous process placed plywood over grating and then added welding blanket material on top. Building and removing that layered system required substantial material handling and labor.
Nische application
In the completed trial, Blue Diamond was evaluated as a single-system replacement for the plywood and welding-blanket arrangement. The operator’s analysis found material-cost savings of more than 50%, along with substantial labor-cost savings. Full rollout is planned for the 2027 turnaround.
Why it matters
The trial supported the decision to replace the layered system and shows potential to influence best practice for comparable turnaround protection. These savings are trial findings; full-turnaround outcomes will be measured after rollout.
